Welcome

The Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado promotes equal access to justice by raising funds to provide civil legal services for low-income people in the state of Colorado. The money raised by the Foundation goes to Colorado Legal Services.

Colorado Legal Services provides free civil legal assistance to low-income Coloradans through a net work of 15 offices located throughout the state. A person is eligible for assistance with few exceptions when his or her income is less that 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. In 2006, this was $12,250 a year for a single individual and $25,000 a year for a family of four. Priority is given to individuals and families who have critical legal problems affecting their most basic needs, including food, shelter, utilities, personal safety, and medical care.

The Legal Aid Foundation raises funds primarily through it annual Campaign for Justice. For the last few years, this annual Campaign has raised over $1 million for legal aid. Crucial to the Foundation's success each year is strong law firm giving, with many firms, large and small, giving at the Foundation's target-giving level, which for the last five years has been $300 per lawyer in the firm.

The Legal Aid Foundation also maintains an Endowment Fund, for those who would like to help ensure "justice for all" in the future.
