DENVER— The Legal Aid Foundation’s 2021 Associates Campaign raised a record $302,550.52 for legal aid. Not only did the Associates Campaign raise $74,000 more than last year, but it broke the previous record set in 2019 by $71,000. This accomplishment is even more impressive considering all the ongoing pandemic-related challenges and the fact that most law firms are still working remotely.
This was the 17th year that Colorado’s young lawyers have demonstrated their commitment to equal justice through their leadership of the Associates Campaign. Their efforts resulted in 1,293 individuals donating to legal aid during the month of March, including 88 percent of associates from the 60 participating firms.
“We’re thrilled to have this level of engagement during a very weary and challenging time of the pandemic,” said Legal Aid Foundation Board Chair Eric Olson. “The real winners are the folks needing legal help that will benefit from the extraordinary amount of money raised.”
Mr. Olson said the funds raised will allow Colorado Legal Services to continue assisting low-income Coloradans with pandemic-related legal problems that flow from lost jobs, food and housing insecurity, denials of claims for unemployment, inadequate access to healthcare, and increased domestic violence.
All seven justices of the Colorado Supreme Court participated in a Zoom celebration on April 8th with Firm Representatives to recognize the success of the Campaign and present awards. Every participating firm contributed to the incredible success of this year’s Campaign, but the Campaign is organized as a friendly competition between similarly-sized firm, and the results of its competitive aspects are as follows:
