Meet the 2024 Hill & Robbins Fellow
Each year the Legal Aid Foundation funds a public interest fellowship, alternating between host host programs, the Colorado Lawyers Committee and Colorado Legal Services. This fellowship is made possible by a generous gift from Hill & Robbins P.C. Hear from this year’s fellow, Mackenzie Haugen, about her experience.
“I am really passionate about public interest and hope to go into that area of law after law school. I am so grateful that this fellowship allowed me to work with the Colorado Lawyers Committee. During my fellowship, I helped with a few big projects, including the relaunch of the virtual pro se clinic, submitting CORA requests, and researching laws and policies pertaining to children’s rights.
On a personal level, this fellowship was empowering because I got to work with an all-female staff. Kristen’s and Kathleen’s stories as mothers, wives, and attorneys were inspiring. They are impacting both the lives of their families and that of the broader community. They are amazing role models and women I hope to emulate in my professional life.”
