Lawyers and law firms from across the state came together to raise a record $1.8 million in the Legal Aid Foundation’s annual fundraising drive for Colorado Legal Services. The funds will be used to provide necessary legal assistance in serious civil matters for Coloradans who cannot afford counsel.
The remarkable success of the 2015-16 Campaign for Justice is a direct result of the ongoing commitment of the Colorado legal community to improve access to our civil justice system. This year, law firm giving accounted for 63 percent of the total amount raised, with 74 donor firms giving at the Leadership Level of $400 per lawyer in the firm and 58 firms giving at the Pacesetter Level of $450 per lawyer in the firm. Donations from individual lawyers reached a record level as well.
“Our donors move us closer to the promise of equal justice, regardless of individual economic circumstances,” said Legal Aid Foundation Executive Director Diana Poole. “Their support and generosity provide help and hope to low-income Coloradans in desperate need of both.”
Colorado Legal Services (CLS) provides legal representation and advice through a network of 14 offices around the state, as well as easy-to-understand, online self-help information and state-of-the art interactive forms that can be used in civil proceedings.
