The need for legal aid in Colorado:
1 in 8 Coloradans qualify for help from Colorado Legal Services
Under $19,563 is the qualifying income for an individual
Under $40,188 is the qualifying income for a family of four
Colorado Legal Services has just 89 attorneys to serve hundreds of thousands of Coloradans
Roughly 50% of people who apply for legal aid are turned away due to lack of funding

Colorado Legal Services opened 5,516 cases for low-income Coloradans in just the first six months of 2025!

That’s 2,207 housing law cases, which includes things like helping people in our communities stay in their homes; nearly 1,294 family law cases, including representing victims of domestic violence in divorce, custody, and protection order processes; and 725 consumer law cases, which includes things like helping Coloradans defend against illegal debt collection, prevent foreclosure, and navigate bankruptcy.

The need for legal aid in Colorado is as urgent as ever. From keeping families safely housed to helping survivors of domestic violence navigate the court system, legal aid is life-changing, and often, lifesaving.
